 Elementary School

Kindergarten through 5th Grade

Our Elementary School includes Kindergarten through 5th grade. We offer a vibrant environment for students to learn and grow. Class sizes in elementary school range from 24-30 students and younger grades have the support of an educational assistant.

Our curriculum is aligned with Archdiocesan standards. In addition to instilling a strong academic foundation in core subjects, our elementary students have weekly classes in art, music, physical education, and hands-on science labs - all taught by knowledgeable and passionate educators.

Our engaging campus, together with our dedicated faculty and staff, ensure a safe and collaborative space for students to learn and explore.

  • The Sisters of Holy Names, our foundresses, believed in the power of the arts. Every student in each grade participates in multiple classes a week in both visual arts and vocal music.

In addition to their regular Arts education, the Third Graders participate in the performing arts while they put on the annual “Portland Play.”

Fourth and Fifth Grade students participate in Strings Class in addition to their usual visual arts and vocal music. Each student is measured and fitted specifically for their own instrument and spends the year learning to play the violin.

We also offer optional group Choir and private music lessons in piano, cello, violin, and viola.

  • Each grade works on a service project under the leadership of their homeroom teacher. These service projects bring the curriculum to life and highlight an important tenet of our faith - acting as Jesus taught us to.

  • Older elementary students in 4th and 5th grade are invited to serve on Holy Redeemer's Student Council. Led by a group of 7th and 8th graders who act as the Leadership Team, Student Council offers students a unique opportunity to support the school community and vision of the student body.

  • Our whole school community is made stronger through our buddy program. Younger students "buddy-up" with older students for attendance at mass, fun projects, and other school events.

  • Field trips are an important part of our learning process; different grades engage in different trips to enhance the learning done inside the classroom.
