Middle School

Grades 6th, 7th and 8th

The middle school program at Holy Redeemer encompasses students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Students receive instruction from teachers qualified in specific subject areas. The core curriculum is strengthened by weekly classes in art, music, physical education, and hands-on science labs - all taught by knowledgeable and passionate educators. Our curriculum is aligned with Archdiocesan standards. Class sizes in elementary school range from 24-30 students.

Upon graduation, our students are well-rounded stewards of their community and are prepared to be successful in high school.

  • The Sisters of Holy Names, our foundresses, believed in the power of the arts. Every student participates in multiple classes a week in both visual arts and vocal music.

We also offer optional group Choir and private music lessons in piano, cello, violin, and viola.

  • In addition to the usual science curriculum and weekly hands-on science lab, experiences unique to middle school include 6th grade's attendance at Outdoor School and participation in the Science Fair or Invention Convention.

  • Each grade works on a service project under the leadership of their homeroom teacher. These service projects bring the curriculum to life and highlight an important tenet of our faith - acting as Jesus taught us to.

  • Middle school students are encouraged to be a part of Holy Redeemer's Student Council. Led by a group of 7th and 8th graders who act as the Leadership Team, Student Council offers students a unique opportunity to support the school community and vision of the student body.

  • Middle school students begin the school year reading the same novel. This program, "Middle School Reads," was designed to establish a sense of community as readers, support discussions anchored in Catholic Social Teachings, and to explore identity, bias, and other critical social comprehension concepts through literature. This unit is done in collaboration with teachers across subject areas, features guest speakers from the community, and culminates in an author event!

  • Our whole school community is made stronger through our buddy program. Younger students "buddy-up" with older students for attendance at mass, fun projects, and other school events.
